We’ve been looking at John 12:26, and seeing that we must go where Jesus goes. Here’s a devotional poem from Christ-following cowboy Cecil Billingsley seeing the same. It’s called “Right Where I Belong.”

I was high up on a mountain,
talking with the Lord my God.
I asked Him, Lord, can I stay here,
stay here with you for good?
He said, no, son,
you’ve got to go back down,
back to where I’m working —
to heal the sick, feed the hungry,
and bring me a cool drink of water.

I was down by the water’s edge
and saw my Lord out walking.
I asked Him, Lord, can I walk here,
walk here with you for good?
He said, no, son,
you’ve got to go back up,
back to where I’m working —
to heal the sick, feed the hungry,
and bring me a cool drink of water.

I was in the heart of the city,
death and famine all around.
I said, Lord, I can’t continue,
won’t you please take me home?
He said, no, son,
you’re right where you belong,
right where I am working. Now,
heal the sick, feed the hungry,
and bring me a cool drink of water.
