In All Things God Works

God’s Word says, “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him” — Romans 8:28

This is Jesus’ cure for heart trouble — faith in God.

Let us try to find the secret of Jesus’ optimism. The secret is written large across the pages of the Gospel. It was a secret too good to keep — he gave it to everybody who had ears to hear. It was an abiding confidence in God.

True and Lasting Hope

Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me” — John 14:1

True and lasting hope,
real and healthy optimism,
doesn’t come from confidence
in ourselves or other people.
How could it? We, and they,
often fail or fall short.

True and lasting hope,
real and healthy optimism,
doesn’t come from confidence
in the future, in advancement.
How could it? History proves
not all change is progress.

True and lasting hope,
real and healthy optimism,
comes from confidence
in our mighty loving Father.
He does not fail or fall short;
His plans are always perfect.

Those who put their hope,
their confidence, in Him
will soar on wings like eagles.

Christianity is a rescue religion. It declares that God has taken the initiative in Jesus Christ to deliver us from our sins. This is the main theme of the Bible.
